After playing Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, the bar was set sky high for developer Naughty Dog to deliver another masterpiece, and with Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception they launched the bar right into space. Nathan Drake’s third adventure on the PlayStation3 is his most incredible yet, as he travels the world in search of lost treasure.
The recurring cast from the first two games return with Drake’s partner in crime Sully along with his cocky banter and on again off again love affair Elena providing some heated tension between them. It’s exactly this sort of realistic character portrayals and cutting edge animation that get the player invested in their adventure.
The gameplay is similar to the first two games like climbing walls, taking cover behind corners and shooting up goons, but is become more fun thanks to brilliant graphics making everything look fantastic. When a break is needed from the superb action, Uncharted 3 keeps the player guessing with its remarkable puzzles. The pacing of the story is merged perfectly with amazing cinematography of London, Colombia, France, Syria, Yemen and lastly the Arabian Desert.
Uncharted 3 certainly delivers in all the departments. The visuals are crisp; the voice acting is perfect, sound effects and background score is spectacular, the gameplay is refined and merges well with the story and some stunning set pieces to encompass all these elements. Uncharted 3 is not just a game, but an experience, leaving the player breathless.
